Essential Oils: Mexican Arnica

This is a very low-yield essential oil, but worth its weight in gold.

Mexican Arnica (Heterotheca subaxillaris)
Gathered in Sedona and the Verde Valley (4,000+ elev.) The aroma is reminiscent of Inula Graveolens, but more earthy, warm and dry, like a Summer wildflower field. Analgesic, antiinflammatory, antispasmodic, tissue and cns sedative, antifungal. Exceptionally effective in treating trauma and pain. When applied immediately, may help prevent bruising and swelling. Is also effective in treating older injuries and arthritis. Do not apply to broken skin. Dilute and apply topically as needed.
