OMEO GUM EUCALYPTUS (Eucalyptus neglecta)
By Clare Licher
Omeo Gum Eucalyptus is back in stock with a 30% price drop!
There are more than 600 species of Eucalyptus, which are almost entirely native to Australia. They have been widely cultivated around the world, and there are several species in Arizona. Only a very few species are able to survive both higher elevation and cold temperatures, however. Omeo Gum is a round leafed Eucalyptus that can withstand a cold winter in Sedona, where the temperatures often drop below 20 degrees F.
Each species of Eucalyptus is remarkably varied in its chemistry and aroma. Essential oil from the leaves of the Omeo Gum contain an outstanding 88.5% of 1-8-cineole, a constituent that is known as a potent mucolytic, with anti-viral, anti-bacterial and airborne antimicrobial qualities. The oil has a clarifying effect on the mind as well as the respiratory system, and the aroma is very smooth, round and sweet. Only a couple of drops are needed in a diffuser to help purify the air and provide an added feeling of protection.
One of our favorite diffuser blends is:
2 drops Omeo Gum
Eucalyptus
3 drops Lemon Peel
4 drops Valencia Orange Peel
The cleansing and uplifting effects of this blend can be felt immediately!
We are delighted to be able to offer a brand new batch of this beautiful Eucalyptus, especially at this time, and after being uncertain if we would be able to find more to distill again. Not only were we fortunate enough to find a new source in Sedona, but we also received a nice yield of essential oil, so we are happy to offer it at a lower price. We have also added a 15 ml size, which we weren’t able to do before.
